Cosmetic Dentistry

Beautiful teeth backing a friendly smile can truly make a person stand out. With restorative dentistry, anyone can repair almost every dental defect they face. Typically, dental imperfections that restorative dentistry can address include:

  • Missing teeth
  • Cavities
  • Damaged and infected gums, tissue, and teeth
  • Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth

Restorative dentistry replaces these damaged or missing teeth with dental restorations.. When complete, not only your dental appearance will improve, your overall oral health will also be at an optimal functioning level. Common procedures in restorative dentistry include:

Dental implants are the most realistic tooth replacement therapy available. Comprised of a tiny titanium screw and a custom-made replacement tooth, dental implants replace your original tooth in functionality and appearance.

  • Dental implants are the most realistic tooth replacement therapy available. Comprised of a tiny titanium screw and a custom-made replacement tooth, dental implants replace your original tooth in functionality and appearance. The small titanium screw (or post) is implanted in the bone beneath the missing tooth’s socket. The replacement tooth is attached to this screw creating a bond to your jaw bone that is as strong as your original tooth and root. Dental implants are often the preferred tooth replacement therapy and only a lack of solid bone under the tooth socket can cause this treatment choice to be rejected. Your dental implant will look and function like your original tooth – except that it will be impervious to decay.
  • Bridges: Patients missing one or more teeth possess large gaps in their gum line, which aside from appearance concerns, is detrimental to overall health as well. Dental bridges restore the missing teeth with restorative porcelain teeth anchored to naturally forming teeth on adjacent ends. The resulting appearance is natural, uniform, and exhibits no gaps, cracks, or evidence of the dental restoration.
  • Dental Crowns: Dental crowns made of porcelain are the preferred way to repair damaged, cracked, or rotting teeth. The final appearance is a natural look and feel to the tooth or teeth, with a custom fitted cap placed over your existing damaged tooth. Crowns effectively treat broken teeth, tooth decay, and other forms of traumatic dental injuries.
  • Dentures: Partial and full dentures are well-known removable pieces of dental product that promote the appearance of multiple or all of one’s natural teeth. These devices are affordable, and promote the necessary stability your oral tissue requires to stay in proper place if tooth loss has occurred.
  • Full Mouth Restoration: Full mouth restoration involves entirely revamping a patient’s dental and oral health, which may include multiple procedures, such as crowns, bridges, fillings, and even implants. These procedures are generally reserved for patients with severe tooth loss or decay or traumatic dental injuries.
  • On-lays and Inlays: Like dental fillings, inlays fill cavities and other depression found on a tooth, and on-lays typically address issues found on the surface of the tooth. Inlays and on-lays are manufactured with custom designed porcelain fixtures that are bonded to the patient’s tooth.
  • Tooth colored filling: Tooth colored fillings are now readily available to patients, instead of traditional metal filings, which are not nearly as attractive. Tooth colored fillings use composite resins that can perfectly match the coloration of your existing teeth, while providing the strength and reinforcement the natural tooth needs.

Teeth Whitening

Your smile is one of the most important features so why not actively improve how you look with Professional Teeth Bleaching, or Whitening. This is the most effective way to whiten your teeth whilst leaving the teeth untouched. Our tooth whitening products provide a fresher look without harming the original tooth structure and is the most simplest way of achieving a more attractive smile.

Our 'at-home' tooth whitening treatment will give you whiter teeth in only just a few days and can be implemented entirely at your convenience. An appointment will be required so that we can tailor make your whitening teeth-trays. These tray based whitening treatments can provide the ideal home whitening solution, depending on the level of tooth discoloration.

Following an initial consultation with your dentist, they will be able to tell you if you are suitable for home teeth whitening treatments. If so, your dentist will then take impressions of your teeth, which are then used to produce upper/lower trays. These trays are tailored for each patient and allow the whitening gel to closely contact the enamel of your teeth thereby producing a whiter smile. Ready-made trays from other home teeth whitening products simply don't allow the close contact that is required to create such even results. Hygienist

Regular visits to the hygienist aids in the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease (gum disease) and dental caries (tooth decay). The dental health of the mouth is maintained by regularly having teeth and gums cleaned as well oral hygiene instructions given during these visits.

Apart from causing bleeding gums and bad breath, which can be both unpleasant and embarrassing, gum, disease is one of the most common causes of tooth loss in its advanced stage. Apart from professionally cleaning the teeth, part of the hygienist treatment includes advice on how to clean and look after the teeth and gums, as well as providing information and demonstrations on the many dental products available so as to achieve and maintain good oral health. For patients who have heavily stained teeth we have a special prophyjet machine, which ensures a more optimum removal of stains resulting in a white and fresh appearance.

At Apex Dental Surgery we have qualified hygienist who provides 20min, 30min and 60min sessions should they be required. For more information or to book an appointment please contact the surgery.

Facial Rejuvenation

Signs of aging may be more visible on the face than any other area of the body. Facial rejuvenation is a strategy using a variety of treatments to combat a variety of forces at work in an aging face. Much of the age-related changes in skin result from the reduction in both quantity and quality of the essential structural proteins, collagen and elastin.

Our non-surgical treatments are based primarily on Botulinum-based anti-aging injections (boutulinum toxin A), and dermal fillers. All our treatments are temporary lasting typically between 4-8 months depending on the individual, and are entirely reversal (should reversal be required). The treatment need to be repeated over time to maintain the cosmetic result, but evidence shows that over time the treatments may last longer thus being required less and less frequently.

The following treatments are provided at Apex Dental Surgery:

  • Wrinkle Elimination
  • Skin revolumisation, Revitalization & Re-contouring
  • Persperation Control
  • Skin Repair, Tightening & Stimulation
  • Bespoke Treatments such as Lip Revolumisation and Re-Contouring and Non Surgical Brow Lift
  • Bruxism and Jaw-Debulking Therapy
For more information or to book an appointment please contact the surgery.

Orthodontic

Orthodontics is the technique of correcting teeth that maybe crooked, twisted or incorrectly positioned. Aligned teeth are more pleasing to look at, giving you a great smile as well as powerful confidence booster. Correctively positioned teeth will make your day-to-day brushing easier, making it less likely for tooth decay and gum problems to occur. There may also be less chance for accidental trauma and you bite and chewing ability can be improved if the teeth meet together evenly.

All the new rapid and less-visible orthodontic options mean that more and more adults are choosing to straighten (and whiten) their healthy teeth. At Apex Dental Surgery we offer:

  • Invisible braces such as Invisalign and Clear Step.
  • Fixed orthodontics with either tooth coloured or clear brackets (Damon system) and Incognito, the one that is hidden on the inside.
For more information or to book an appointment please contact the surgery.

Sedation and Hypnotherapy

Many people neglect going to the dentist to get their teeth taken care of due to fear and anxiety. Sedation dentistry involves performing dental treatment on a patient in an environment that is stress and anxiety free.

At Apex Dental Surgery sedation is provided by a Consultant Anesthetist. The procedure involves the use of sedative medications such as Midazolam to produce a relaxed conscious experience permitting dental treatment.

If you experience the following during dental treatment then you should consider sedation:

  • Fear of dental treatment
  • History of frightening or traumatic dental experiences
  • Difficulty getting numb
  • Very sensitive gag reflex or difficulty opening
  • Painful and Extremely sensitive teeth
  • Complex dental problems; or a need for surgery
  • Experience sweaty palms or find yourself gripping the armrest
  • Medical conditions that render them unable to control their bodily movements such as
Parkinson’s disease can benefit from the physical relaxation of sedation. For more information or to book an appointment please contact the surgery
